NAFCON Calls for Support for Mangkhut (Ompong) Victims
The National Alliance for Filipino Concerns (NAFCON) calls on community support and stands ready to coordinate relief efforts for the victims of Typhoon Mangkhut (Ompong) in the Philippines.
Super Typhoon Mangkhut, the strongest storm of 2018, made landfall on September 15 in northern Philippines, affecting more than four million people directly in its the path. The storm had winds of 125 mph and gusts reaching up to 205 mph, resulting to 51 landslides across the affected region. More than 100,000 people were evacuated. The death toll so far is 14 but is expected to increase.
NAFCON once again appeals to the communities in the US and worldwide to support the typhoon-affected communities in the Philippines. As in past disaster relief efforts, NAFCON will be coordinating with community-based, people-to-people grassroots responses to natural disasters in the Philippines. With almost a decade of work responding to calamities in the Philippines, NAFCON ensures that your donations will reach victims timely and efficiently.
