Relief Donation Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is my donation tax-deductible?

Since NAFCON is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.  Please consult your tax adviser. If you require certain documentation for tax purposes, please email NAFCON’s treasurer at trea @ nafconusa.org.

2. Can my employer or company match my donations?

Yes! If your employer requires certain documentation for matching, please email trea @ nafconusa.org.

3. How will my donation get to those who need it in the Philippines? 

NAFCON will send your donation to grassroots, people-to-people relief efforts and organizations. For the current rebuilding effort, NAFCON is partnering with the Consortium for People’s Development-Haiyan Response which is composed of four (4) non government organizations (NGOs), namely: IBON International, Citizen’s Disaster Response Center (CDRC), Working for Empowerment and Good Governance Institute, Inc. (WeGovern Institute) and Management Advancement Systems Association, Inc. (MASAI).

Each of these organizations has a proven track record to prove their capability and competence in project implementation, in varying forms and magnitude. They have also forged good working relations with many regional organizations for decades in the entire country.

4. How do I make a donation to NAFCON’s Bayanihan Relief and Rehabilitation Program?

To send a check, make payable to “NAFCON” and on the memo line, write: “NAFCON Bayanihan Relief” to clearly allocate it for this purpose. Mail checks to 4681 Mission St., San Francisco, CA 94112 c/o A.V. David. Please, include your return address with your donation.

5. Are any fees deducted from my donation?

If you donate online via PayPal, PayPal will deduct up to 3% from your donation. Donations made by cash or check are not subject to this fee.

6. How will I get information on the progress of NAFCON’s relief effort both here in the U.S. and in the Philippines?

NAFCON will post periodic updates to its website. Here is our most recent post. You can also sign up for our general news list, which will also include updates, by clicking here.
